New Horizons!

With the start of a new year, boxing is coming up over the horizon with more TV fights and better match ups. Thanks to ESPN's new season of boxing shows, 2 days a week, Wednesday and Friday, fighters and fight fans are sure to recieve the benifit. With more fights means more fans; with more fans means more FIGHTS! Top 10 contenders in all weight catagories are looking for more exposure, and with the brand new implementation of ESPN, Web and Fri night fights; Show Times, ShoBox; and HBO's renewed boxing show with top analysts Max Kellerman, Fran Charles and Lennox Lewis to debut April 29th on BAD, Boxing is seeing a true REVIVAL in the sweet science!

Already, top fighters are taking advantage of the TV spotlight and making the most to upgrade their stock in their own respected division. Money is to be made by fighting more often in front of a national audience than opting out just to sit around and wait for a title shot to be laid on the lap of the prize fighters by their weasel promoters.

Contenders are finding out that they can't make as much money waiting for their promoters to get them a good purse bid; instead, by getting their collective asses out there and fighting on TV more greatly appreciates a fighters stock and gives them a better chance to get that BIG MONEY FIGHT! We boxing fans must also realize it's our dollar that pays the bill, so when they give us better fights, we will pay a better dollar to see those fights. It all works in harmony.

I believe we, the fight fans of this generation, will see true reform of our beloved sport with the rise of a good upstart promoters such as Oscar De La Hoya and Benard Hopkins among others. I liken them both to a young Bob Arum and Don King. These 2 great fighters will make a major impact on out great sport. With legislation from Senator John McCain, who is also helping the cause for boxing reform, boxing is coming to the forefront. I say it's about time.

We need change in this great sport of ours and it looks to me like such change is in the works before our very eyes. Besides the current muddle in the heavyweight division, this is a very exciting time to be a boxing fan!

For boxing itself this is the "New Horizon"!
