Oscar De La Hoya vs. Ricardo Mayorga

With the onset of this explosive fight, May 6th can't come any sooner! Bad blood is assured as Oscar De La Hoya vs. Ricardo Mayorga get it on for the 154 pound Jr. Welterweight title!

What is it about Oscar that just gets under the skin of Latino macho men such as Trinidad, Vargas and Mayorga? Yes, there is a common thread with these Oscar opponents who just want to take his head clean off!!! Let us count the ways shall we?

De La Hoya lost an obvious bad decision to Felix Trinidad, though in most observers’ eyes, he won most every round. Then there was Fernando Vargas, who had a grudge against the golden boy to avenge. That fight was much closer and more brutal than the Trinidad fight, but Oscar cashed in with a quick left hook and an 11th round TKO.

Now, there is a more malevolent foe. One who throws punches from China to Alaska. Ricardo Mayorga! There is no real rhyme or reason to his attack, just a killer method to destroy and not necessarily be destroyed! Mayorga is a harden foe, crass in all his ways, certainly the most dangerous foe De La Hoya has faced thus far.

Boxing purists can't deny the bra verity of Oscar’s choice in this opponent. When questioned why this choice of opponent, what ever answer he gives, how can you not believe him? Sure there's money to be made; sure it solidifies his legacy if he happens to WIN this one, but one must think to himself that Oscar may have gone "Loco" to take on such a dangerous adversary in Mayorga.
